Scented candles have always been a fixture in the zeitgeist, but in recent years the market has become saturated with minimal luxury brands that all look — and smell — the same. Aden Candle, Gaelic for “little flame,” was created to fill the void in the market for straightforward scents for the every-person. The brand currently retails exclusively through online retailer Huckberry, and specializes in hand-poured nostalgic and comforting scents, from “Fresh Cut Pine” to “Spiked Apple Cider.”
Aden Candle needed an identity and package that felt vaguely mystical and connected to the Gaelic heritage behind its name without being exaggerated and trite.
Aden Candle’s packaging is split into two collections, using a white vessel and accent for lighter scents, and a black vessel and accent for more robust scents. The branding on each vessel is unintrusive - using a color-coded label as a scent identifier and the logo set in transparent ink, the candles can blend into any environment they’re placed into - keeping them from becoming the focal point of a room. After the final hours of burn time are finished, the vessel can be cleaned and used as a tumbler for your favorite beverage.
