3sixteen is a menswear brand based on the Lower East Side of New York City. What began in 2003 as a graphic t-shirt company quickly grew to cult status after the brand launched its first American-sewn denim collection. Since then, 3sixteen has become a tentpole brand for many fine menswear retailers all over the world. In 2018 3sixteen approached Studio Workhorse with the task of creating a distinct identity to mark their 15th anniversary.
Finding a visual balance between 3sixteen’s place in streetwear and their particular aesthetic was a challenge. Mid-century Modern design is a mainstay within the brand’s visual language; they’ve even collaborated with Herman Miller on a special edition Eames Lounge Chair, so using critical pieces of ephemera from the MCM era as inspiration was a must.
The final “15” mark adorned special edition product labeling, t-shirt graphics, and hang tags, as well as a custom stainless silver snap cover by Good Art HLYWD for 3sixteen’s 15th Anniversary collaboration with Schott NYC.
